Cafe 4 Offers a Great Family Friendly Brunch on Weekends

My family and I recently happened to be downtown one Sunday around lunch time and were hungry.  We’ve eaten at Cafe 4 several times for a date night, but had never taken our children there.  After a recent bad experience with our children at a different local restaurant, we were hesitant to take them someplace nicer than McDonald’s for a meal.

But we were hungry for grits and we had heard that they have a fantastic bakery…so we gave it a shot.

In a word, our experience at Cafe 4 was spectacular.

My son was very hungry once we were seated after a twenty minute wait, dramatically so, and our waiter quickly brought my children their drinks and some cinnamon rolls.  He went out of his way to make our children happy and I truly appreciated the kindness he showed them.

I ordered the Crawfish and Crab Cake Benedict with grits on the side and my husband had the Lo Country Shrimp and Grits.  They were both so good!  The kids both ordered oatmeal that was topped with brown sugar and dried cranberries.  They were already a little full from the cinnamon rolls, but thought that the oatmeal was very good.

Cafe 4 is a bit pricey, well okay, it’s a lot pricey.  For the level of service we received and the quality of the food and the overall experience, it was worth the money.  It’s not someplace we plan to go often with the kids, but we’ll definitely take them back for brunch!

Cafe 4 is located in downtown Knoxville on Market Square, where brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 3 pm.  Visit their website, where you can view their menus, specials, and make reservations. You can also call them at 865-544-4144.

  1. [...] Square for an early lunch and to beat the downtown lunch crowd. We suggest Tupelo Honey Cafe or Cafe 4, especially if you’re out on a date, though both restaurants do accommodate children well. [...]
