Family Friendly Weekend Events {February 24th-26th}

Another weekend, another jam-packed activity calendar!

The Clinton Public Library will be hosting an Infant and Toddler Sign Language Workshop on Friday morning, February 24th at 10:30 am.  This is a free workshop where parents will learn and practice 25 of the most useful signs for helping children communicate.  No registration is required. Discover the Dinosaurs, an exhibit featuring museum quality dinosaurs, will be at the Knoxville Convention Center Friday through Sunday, February 24th-26th.  Admission includes the Dinosaur Exhibit, Dino Dig, Dino Den, Dino Theater, Dino Coloring Station, and Scavenger Hunt. Additional activities will require extra ticket purchases.  Admission is $14 for those 12 and older, $9 for children ages 2-11, and children under 2 are admitted for FREE.  The exhibit will be open Friday from 12-9 pm, Saturday from 10 am – 8 pm, and on Sunday from 10 am – 7 pm. The Knoxville Convention Center is located at 701 Henley Street.

Parents and their children are invited to the B97.5 Parenting Expo this Saturday from 9 am – 5 pm at the Knoxville Expo Center, 5441 Clinton Highway.  Get all the details from FFK’s feature article.

Target stores in Knoxville will be hosting a Read Across America event on Saturday, February 25th from 9-11 am.  Kids will enjoy a Dr. Seuss story time, goody bags, and fun activities.  This event is free.

Children’s Theatre of Knoxville will present Rapunzel beginning Friday night, February 24th at 7 pm.  Catch other performances this weekend on Saturday afternoon, February 25th at 1 pm and 7 pm and on Sunday at 3 pm.   Tickets are $12 each or $10 each for an adult/child combo.  Tickets can be purchased ahead of time by emailing,  The Children’s Theatre of Knoxville is located at 800 Tyson Street.

The Farragut Town Hall will present a Black History Month event on Sunday, February 26th from 2-4 pm.  This year’s theme will be “Building the Future with Respect to the Past.”  Dr. Horace A. Judson, president of Knoxville College, will be the keynote speaker. A video of Knoxville will also be presented by local historian Robert Booker. Tearsa Smith, WATE-TV 6 anchor, will serve as mistress of ceremony. Attendees will hear music by longtime Knoxville jazz legend and saxophone player Lance Owens and pianist Patricia Dulaney as well as view displays featuring historic Knoxville College.  Farragut Town Hall is located at 11408 Municipal Center Dr. in Farragut.

Greenway School will be hosting an open house event this Sunday from 2-4 pm at 544 Canton Hollow Rd.  Greenway School is a private college prep school for middle school age children. For more information, visit their website.
