It’s Not Too Early to Plan Ahead for New Year’s Eve

One holiday at a time, right?  Let’s just make it through Christmas and THEN we’ll think about New Year’s, okay?

But for those of you planner-ahead-ers, here’s a heads up about the premier family friendly New Year’s Eve Celebration! First Night Knoxville, in it’s fifth year, kicks off on December 31st at 3 pm with their Children’s Festival.  Located at the East Tennessee History Center in downtown Knoxville, families can enjoy crafts, performances by One World Circus and Sean McCoullough, face painting, and much more from 3-6:30 pm.  At 9 pm, a special kid’s countdown to the new year will be held.

There will be all sorts of performances by local and regional artists, singers, and performers throughout downtown and Market Square during First Night Knoxville.  Visit their website for their full schedule of events.

Purchase buttons in advance for $15. Children 6 and under are free and do not need a button.  Buttons can also be purchased the evening of the event for $20. Get your buttons for First Night Knoxville at Pilot Convenience Store locations, Market Square District shops, and online through PayPal.

First Night Knoxville is a family-friendly, alcohol-free New Year’s Eve community celebration. This event first began in Boston in 1976 and has expanded to over 100 cities in 30 states across the country, as well as internationally into Canada and New Zealand, attracting thousands and thousands of visitors.

  1. Do you know if parents need buttons to take the kids into the Children’s Festival portion? THANKS!

    • Yes, Suzi. It’s my understanding that everyone who is old enough needs a button to attend any of the First Night activities.
